Lieber, Spencer and company once again kill it with their second installment in this series.
This is quickly moving up my pull list, so many good things about this series. Mac and Roy have a bromantic evening that ends with one of them getting shot in the hand and the story only gets wackier from there, a comic tht reminded me vaguely of The Filth with James Macavoy.
Spencer is crafting an engaging crime comedy with equal parts The Departed and The Hangover and the results are tremendous. Combined with Lieber’s deliberate and humorous cartooning and this issue just won me over again and again.
It becomes hard to actually discuss it without spoiling too much but the series is slowly building up to the next caper Roy and Mac have to pull in order to avoid their debt collector doing unspeakable things to them. Roy has a plan and no qualms about getting someone in his way, out.
Already I can’t wait for the next issue and to see what Roy and Mac do while they each have a unique assignment to complete as they try to raise enough money to save their kneecaps. If you’re not reading this book yet, this issue is all the reason you need to start.
