Indubitable Issues and Pull List (09/28/16)

LOOKING FOR BOOKS TO BUY THIS WEEK?

LOOK NO FURTHER.

HERE ARE SOME ISSUES THAT WILL NOT DISAPPOINT.

Josh’s Recommendation …
tarzanontheplanetoftheapes1Tarzan and the Planet of the Apes #1
“I think the strangest crossover this year, and that’s saying something, is this book. I’m a sucker for both Tarzan and PotA stories though, so I have to see what the top-notch talent have in store for such two distinct but classic properties.”

 Tyler’s Recommendations…
josieandthepussycats1Josie and The Pussycats #1
“The newest series in the revamped Archie Comics line is here. I’ve been enjoying most of these titles, so I’m excited to check this one out.”

frostbite1Frostbite #1
“A new miniseries from Joshua Williamson and Jason Shawn Alexander. A dystopian future in a new Ice Age following a doctor and his daughter’s efforts to survive and find a cure for a frigid disease.”

Dean’s Recommendations…
batgirl3Batgirl #3
“Currently my favorite Bat book, or even DC book out there. It has everything I want in a comic with each issue. It’s full of action, romance, mystery and fun!”

snotgirl3Snotgirl #3
“I know Saga, Descender, Deadly Class and Island hit the stands this week but don’t overlook Snotgirl in the Image Comics section. Snotgirl puts a very interesting twist on the life of a fashion blogger. This is vintage O’Malley with the fantastic new artist talent of Leslie Hung. Give it a try and by the time you are 5 pages deep you’re gonna love it.”

As I’m sure you all have noticed, the pull list page is no longer present. We here at Nothing But Comics have decided to combine this weekly with the discussion of which comics we are all buying for the week. Included below is the link of our personal favorite product guide. Don’t worry, this is not an advertisement; the website is not paying us anything to push it (not that we’d object!). Comic List just happens to be totally awesome. So check out that massive list and then come on back here to let us know what you are buying.

  1. Aliens Defiance #5
    Astro City #39
Bloodshot Reborn #17 Cvr A Giorello
    Captain Kid #2 (MR)
    Descender #15
Generation Zero #2 Cvr A Mooney
Lake of Fire #2 Cvr A Smith & Fairbairn (MR)
    Tales From The Darkside #4
    Wacky Raceland #4 (of 6)
Witchfinder City of The Dead #2
    Wonder Woman #7
    X-O Manowar #50 Cvr A All-Star Jam

I’m going to be dropping all of the Aliens books over the next few months. The art is generally terrible and I have every Alien comic ever released and these are some of the worst I’ve ever read (all the fire and stone, predator, prometheus crossover stuff is very disappointing).

I’m not sure how good the new Valiant issues are. I expect big things from them always but I thought Gen Zero wasn’t great first round out. Should improve though. Faith is still pretty good and Britania I liked a lot but that has nothing to do with the Valiant universe anyway (or so it seems).

Lake of Fire’s dialogue was pretty impressive. I really brought me right into medieval times. The first issue was one of my favorites in a while.

Joe Hill’s Tales from the Darkside have been pretty good. Love the art.

Witch finder is always one of the better fringe Mignola verse books.

Wonder Woman… that Sharp fella is a real good drawer… and Rucka is a saint and a liberal and a great writer. Win, win, win…. and win!

and THE LAST ISSUE OF X-O! good I was getting slightly bored.

  2. Elfquest Final Quest 16
    Action 964
    Batgirl 3
    Batman Beyond Rebirth 1
    Blue Beetle 1
Hal Jordan and the GL Corps 5
    Hellblazer 2
    Suicide Squad 3
    Teen Titans Rebirth 1
    Wonder Woman 7
    Saga 38
    Wayward 16
    Rick and Morty 18
