Indubitable Issues and Pull List (12/14/16)

LOOKING FOR BOOKS TO BUY THIS WEEK?

LOOK NO FURTHER.

HERE ARE SOME ISSUES THAT WILL NOT DISAPPOINT.

Cosmo’s Recommendations…
unbeatablesquirrelgirl15Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #15
“If you’re still not reading this book, what can I possibly say to you? How about this issue teases the epic clash of titans which fans have been clamoring for? Yep, it’s Taskmaster vs Mew the Cat. And yep again, it’s told from the feline’s perspective. Ah Mew . . . “

unwrittendeluxehcUnwritten Deluxe hardcover Vol. 1
“Mike Carey and Peter Gross’ acclaimed series gets the deluxe oversized trade treatment and boy is it worth it. Carey and Gross took what could’ve been a cheeky riff on Harry Potter fandom and spun it into a poignant, provocative mediation on the nature of storytelling and its essential role in both personal and cultural identity. They also filled the series with compelling characters who linger in the reader’s memory. A fascinating series which deserves a place on the shelf alongside Vertigo’s other masterpieces. “

Josh’s Recommendation…
moonshine3 Moonshine #3
“Hard to believe this series is only 3 issues in, and already its ranking among the best of Azzerallo and Risso’s collaborations. Moody, suspenseful, and beautiful looking, this is yet another win for Image and Noir fans…”

Tyler’s Recommendation…
nowhawkeye1Hawkeye #1
“Kate Bishop catapulted through the ranks of favorite characters in the last few years. Her attitude, competency, and all-around charm have made her one of the few I will follow almost anywhere. Add to that the equally awesome Kelly Thompson writing and you have a new book from Marvel that you should not miss.”

Dean’s Recommendation…
detectivecomics946Detective Comics #946
“Detective Comics is a book to get excited for! Tynion is doing his best work as a writer and Barrows is doing his best work as an artist. It is fun to see what these two bring us each month…or each week…or every hour? I don’t know how DC shipping works anymore…”

As I’m sure you all have noticed, the pull list page is no longer present. We here at Nothing But Comics have decided to combine this weekly with the discussion of which comics we are all buying for the week. Included below is the link of our personal favorite product guide. Don’t worry, this is not an advertisement; the website is not paying us anything to push it (not that we’d object!). Comic List just happens to be totally awesome. So check out that massive list and then come on back here to let us know what you are buying.

Editors Note: An earlier version of this post credited interior art on Hawkeye #1 to Julian Totino Tedesco. The actual interior artist is Leonardo Romero

Good week for comics. Green Valley issue 1 with modern dialogue in medieval times was surprisingly good (issue 2 wasn’t bad). Lost Boys issue 2 didn’t wow me… R Corben is back with Shadows On the Grave! and of course I’m getting all the Valiant Cat Cosplay variant covers because… cats dressed up as superheroes.. nuff said.

  2. I once had Peter Gross try to convince me to jump back on Unwritten. I had dropped it around issue 15 or 20. He really tried to convince me as I was getting books of magic or something or other signed by him. Love his work but that one didn’t click with me. That was the most convincing a comic book pro had ever attempted on me.
