Indubitable Issues and Pull List (11/01/17)

LOOKING FOR BOOKS TO BUY THIS WEEK?

LOOK NO FURTHER.

HERE ARE SOME ISSUES THAT WILL NOT DISAPPOINT.

Tyler’s Recommendations
Captain America #695
“I don’t have very strong feelings about this whole Marvel legacy thing, but I do have very strong feelings
about Waid, Samnee, and Wilson bringing back the true Cap. I’m very excited for this team to bring Steve back, and everyone should
be picking this up.”

The Jetsons #1
“I get a strong Fantastic Fourish vibe from the solicits, so I’m down to check this one out for at least the first issue and see how it goes.”

 Josh’s Recommendations...
Atomic Robo and the Spectre of Tomorrow #1
“A long running and charming all-ages series, Atomic Robo stars Nikolai Tesla’s greatest invention, as he saves the world from all manner of threats. A perfect jumping on point, any new installment is cause for celebration as one of the most under appreciated series being published.”

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Ghostbusters II #1
“Back for another round, because why not? The teams of both series reunite for another mini of two 80’s icons. Humor, action, and hijinks abound as the TMNT teamup with the classic Ghostbusters for a threat that needs ninjutsu and proton packs!”

Dean’s Recommendation…
Spider-Man #234
“Unlike my colleague Tyler I do have very strong feelings about this Marvel Legacy thing. So far I have enjoyed a lot of the titles that have kicked it off. Spider-Man has been very solid for a very long time and I think it is worth jumping on this week as they introduce a new Sinister-Six to Miles.”

As we’re sure you all have noticed, the pull list page is no longer present. We here at Nothing But Comics have decided to combine this weekly with the discussion of which comics we are all buying for the week. Included below is the link of our personal favorite product guide. Don’t worry, this is not an advertisement; the website is not paying us anything to push it (not that we’d object!). Comic List just happens to be totally awesome. So check out that massive list and then come on back here to let us know what you are buying.

  1. Batman
    Deadman
    Black Bolt
    Captain America
    Guardians of the Galaxy

Hmmm, first no Marvel last week, now no Image this week? Weird . . .

I don’t have strong feelings about Legacy either, but that’s mostly as I haven’t read much of it yet. Just Aaron’s one-shot and Thor. Check back in with me at the end of the month . . .

    1. I’m pretty sure that non of us who frequent the site have strong feelings about Legacy one way or another.

      It’s small potatoes.

I am interested in seeing icons come back but I imagine I’ll be bored soon enough. Waid and Samnee being back should be a treat though.

  2. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/oct/30/facebook-russia-fake-accounts-126-million

Russian backed facebook pages made 80 thousand posts between 2015-2017 which were then shared by more than 20 million Americans. I’ve heard speculation by a reporter who has lived in Russia (Trump critic and Rolling Stone journalist Matt Taibbi) that it is impossible to say if this is Putin or the Mafia or whatever. Regardless… Russia is a criminal state and that is exactly why they want to bring down American and European democracy. They can’t run shady deals in Europe and America because we have “too much regulation”. In order to do good business in the west they have destroy actual law and order. Trump and his voters are making it easy for them. Every day is beyond the pale.

    1. I only check in on this site every now and then but after reading your crazy unhinged rant that has nothing to do with comics at all , this will be my last. For all of you guys that have been here keeping this site going since iFanboy shut down, you should check this jessecuster person immediately. No one wants to come here and read crap like he wrote. I came to read pull lists and instead get a rant from some person that has Trump living in his head rent free. Wow

      1. Fuck you Hanson. Fuck you very much. Which part of it was crazy by the way. I’m quoting journalists. I am straight up quoting journalists… actual journalists. Who is the crazy one. When you have people approach you multiple times in public and accost your family after this piece of shit gets elected in a short few months then maybe you might understand. Also, you read pull lists, do you? When was the last time you did that? I see you still have your Batman taking a shit avatar.

Having said all that, I understand my comments aren’t appropriate in the context of this site and would be happy to “be checked”.

      2. Wasn’t Hanson the French Canadian guy? Maybe I’m wrong. Too many Batman avatars.

Hey GSP is fighting Michael “the count” Bisping Saturday in NYC. (I hate mma nicknames). Here’s an olive branch. GSP is going to whup Bisping. I hope he does. I hate loudmouths.

        Go George!

      3. Hey Hanson. How is this for crazy. A former coworker of mine in her early 30s just had a heart attack last night and is currently in ICU getting heart surgery. Her father who is of Mexican descent and USA born got in a fight with two guys who were telling him to get out of this country. Two on one… they beat him to a pulp and he’s having vision problems (He claims they started it but I won’t even speculate on that). A few days later his daughter has a heart attack. Keeping America classy. Nothing going on though right? Everything ok for you? Good, cause that’s all that matters…

The whole southwest was Mexican and native before there was even a United States. They don’t have to bend over backwards to prove they belong here.

Oh, ya comics right. Sorry, I got distracted by the carnage.

  3. As far as Marvel Legacy goes … and with my qualifications as a long time Marvel Zombie… I get why some people would be happy to have established characters back. I’m glad to have most of them back. On the other hand… half a century of monthly issues is also enough. How long before we are just telling the same stories over and over again. This is precisely why the last few years of younger and, or female and, or minority characters can change things up and make things interesting again. I never want too see bright white 28 year old mostly male Marvel heroes go away but shit… didn’t the last couple of years add a few competing characters to the Marvel pantheon (not too mention some new life long fans). Maybe too much too fast… but in the long run… I’m guessing the last couple of years will be good for Marvel. As for fans who are mad or offended because fictional characters were taking a short vacation… fuck you… you small petty mother fuckers. I say that with the same respect that the lady in Starbucks gave to my mother when she told her to “go back to her country”… a few months back. You mean England you bitch. Maybe we will. God save the Queen!

  4. Also. I know I was the guy that said we shouldn’t do politics a year ago or whatever but that was when I gave a shit. If you guys don’t want me to rant on here… that’s fine but I’m in don’t give a shit mode.

I no longer give a shit AT ALL. Just in the few short months I was in Florida after the election there were at least 3 times that my family was publicly accosted. I don’t give a fuck. The internet is the internet. People can bitch about what I say on the internet or how they have been insulted on the internet. Wait till someone comes up to face to face… again.. and again… and again. So I say fuck your offense… You don’t know what offense is.

    1. I’m sorry to hear about your family’s experience in Florida. This is a troubling time for our country (not just the current administration, but the growing, rigid social and philosophical divisions that the current administration exploits) but I continue to hope that we will get past this period, just like we got past the Salem witch trials and McCarthyism.

In the meantime, keep your chin up and don’t be hesitant to share the things you are experiencing.

      1. Thanks Reed. That means a lot. I don’t actually like being divisive. It hurts me typing this shit actually. I don’t know why I bother. I’d prefer to bring people together… I almost posted a defense of George H W Bush on here a couple of days ago… ha (most likely a side effect of Parkinson drugs). None of this is appropriate for this site but I don’t post anywhere else so it’s either this or keep it inside. It’s hard not to react to this President. Even if we get through 4-8 years of this guy, the cat is out of the bag.

My mom didn’t tell me about the Florida Starbucks thing (until a few weeks ago) after I had settled into the new place because she knew I would be furious. She is 70 plus and under 5 feet and was alone when a woman half her age and twice her size started yelling at her repeating “go back to your country” over and over again… with F you’s sprinkled in. My mom literally heals people for a living. She has gotten people walking again after strokes and traumatic injury. She didn’t ask to come here and she didn’t come here from the 3rd world. Maybe if she came from somewhere terrible I would be more contrite and take the abuse but she was literally begged to come here. There aren’t enough medical professionals in the United States and there never will be. Many immigrants are Doctors and nurses and I guarantee they are going to be choosing Europe and Canada during their recruitment for the foreseeable future. If existing immigrant medical pros decide to leave the United States health care costs are going to sky rocket and wait times are as well.

In all seriousness if you guys don’t want me to rant on here (Pat can email me) and just say “shut it down” and I’ll just stick to comics and probably would be happier anyway. Otherwise I may occasionally (far too often) vomit out bile.

        1. I do hope that things get better for you, your family, and others, and will continue to pray for that.

I no longer have any say about what’s appropriate and allowed in terms of posts on this site, but one thing I have always liked about this site is that it has had a very generous posting policy, allowing free expression and only deleting tweets that were vile, unprovoked attacks or spam.

I’m glad you feel a part of this community and comfortable posting your thoughts here, and I hope everyone feels comfortable sharing their thoughts on this site, comics or not.

          1. I think things are mostly going to be fine actually (just speaking for me). There are a lot of nice people where I live and there were a lot of nice people in Florida as well. It is just human nature to remember negative more than positive… it’s a survival mechanism… like burning a hand on a plate. Remember, so it doesn’t happen again. It gets deeply personal when it happens right in front of me or to close family. These things happened rarely as I was going up and even then I could tell you time date and place. It’s really bad now that the dialogue has been lowered. Speaking of which, my dialogue is not rosey but I’m not the President of the United States and neither should I be.

I really appreciate your well wishes and your sensible behavior Reed as always.

Also, everyone else (if anyone is reading this). Sorry for getting out of hand. I think I need to find a weed dispensary and take up that as my second hobby.

            1. Hey dude, you comment on here every single day. You are part of our comic family. I’m glad you feel comfortable enough to share your thoughts, keep bringing whatever you want up. In my opinion there is only one person out of line on this thread and if he stopped in more than “every now and then” maybe he would know what kind of person you are.

              1. Thanks so much. Seriously, as if it wasn’t obvious I’ve had a rough week… so your understanding is very much appreciated.

In offline life, I’m the guy that’s always trying to be polite. Please, thank you, sorry and repeat. This person leading the free world grates on me like fingernails on a chalk board.

I’m reading stuff about National Monuments and coal power dumping laws… and I already knew how bad Putin was years ago.. and it makes my blood boil. I’m hoping that the Magnitsky act is going to relieve Putin of the 200 billion that he stole from his own people. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnitsky_Act
Canada just signed it and Putin was already talking shit about Canada last week. Putin fears this… hit him in the pocket book.

  5. SCARY HALLOWEEN STORIES INSPIRED BY OTHER PEOPLE’S INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY:

“IBAC” — Stanley Printwhistle claims that he sold his soul to the Devil in return for the skills of history’s greatest monsters — Ivan the Terrible, Cesare Borgia, Attila the Hun, and Caligula — but his opponent says that the deal doesn’t qualify Stanley to serve as America’s president. And the media wants to know if his connection with Ivan the Terrible constitutes Russian interference in a U.S. election!

“Low Key” — Kid siblings Alex, Julie, Jack, and Katie Power discover that their new home is enchanted; the house contains magic keys that unlock doorways to mythic realms. The children befriend gods, elude giants, and even find a powerful magic hammer during their adventures. But an ancient god of mischief secretly follows the kids back home, slowly driving their friends and and family to murderous madness as he seeks a lost key that will end the world.

“Werewolf by Night” — Writer Neil Gaiman is surprised when a fan asks him to sign a copy of WEREWOLF BY NIGHT, a horror comic Gaiman has no memory of writing. Later, Gaiman is shocked to discover that the internet and his colleagues believe it’s his best work! Even weirder, Duran Duran’s “Hungry Like the Wolf” song is playing every time Neil turns on the radio, and his skin is starting to itch as a full moon rises.

“Switcheroo Boo!” — Alan Moore’s curse on DC Comics switches the job responsibilities of your favorite creators! This epic horror story is co-written by Gary Frank, Eduardo Risso, and Mitch Gerads, and features art from Geoff Johns, Brian Azzarello, and Tom King!
